Sign Chi Do (Prayer Motion) free sessions
A Valley Parish Nurse Ministry Volunteer can provide several sessions of Sign Chi Do at your location. A session would last about one hour. An audience of 5-10 or more is suggested.
History of Sign Chi Do: Prayer Motion is an innovative program that incorporates prayer gestures with movement and music. Prayer Motion founder, Dr. Anne Borik, initially developed the program to help her grandmother recover from a stroke. Leveraging her background as a Board Certified Medical Physician, Exercise Physiologist and martial artist, Dr. Borik was able to create a system that actively engages the human spirit. Prayer Motion is a great way to memorize prayers and scripture. It is an effective tool to quiet the chatter in your brain that often gets in the way of staying focused and productive.

GOOD SAMARITAN CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Free if no AHA card is needed
We are very excited to announce a new service to our local church family and local non-profit organizations. In 2016 we were able to train more than 100 people in bystander CPR. A grant from Honor project started the endeavor and other funding from Fawcett Community Foundation and United Way and others allow us to continue. The grant allows us to come to a location and provide a 3 hour session to a group of 5-10 people. Participants will learn American Heart Association Heart Saver techniques to help adults, children and infants who experience cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest or are choking. This is a perfect course for those working with children or teens. This program will also teach use of an automatic eternal defibrillator (AED.) Participants on request can receive a two year Heart Saver certification card for a small fee. Classes will mainly be offered on Saturdays. Fill out the CPR Request Form to apply. The location needs to have a DVD player and TV screen or projection capabilities. Tables and chairs will also be used. Participants will be on their knees for part of the session.
Nutrition Matters: Includes instructions on reading labels, introduction to choices of healthy recipes and possibly a healthy cooking demonstration.
