IN SEARCH OF HAPPINESS
Thanks to Columbiana County Mental Health and Recovery Services for initial funding.
The purpose is to:
There is no cost at this time. Funding is provided for the first 50 participants starting in the Fall of 2022 and into spring of 2023
It has two sessions each lasting about an hour and a half.
Sessions are held at agreed upon location and time.
Pre-registration is needed to prepare materials.
Participants receive colored markers and a journal.
They are encouraged to keep notes and do "homework" before session two.
Current leaders of youth groups are expected to participate in the program during both sessions.
IN SESSION ONE:
Participants will explore these areas to increase personal happiness in a Faith Based atmosphere:
Memories Mindfulness Savoring Gratefulness
Social Media Volunteering Music Savoring
Journaling Meditation Exercise Nature Creativity
The second session is projected to be a week or two after the first session
This allows the participants to explore and document the use of methods
explained in the first session.
IN DAY TWO:
Participants:
The purpose is to:
- Promote positive mental health in youth
- Explore the concept of happiness
- Debunk cultural ideas of path to happiness.
- Foster awareness / signs and symptoms of depression
- Identify local resources
- Promote early intervention if needed

- share three things/activities that increased happiness.
- practice focused listening.
- take a True or false quiz on depression
- role play with someone who sounds depressed
- learn about local resources, apps and HELP lines
